The Kansas City Star’s profile of Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure, “Marcelo’s moment,” was a finalist in the 2015 Best in Business feature awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

Judges called the August 2015 article by Mark Davis a “superbly reported corporate profile that took Kansas City readers inside a company they probably knew little about — and a mercurial CEO they didn’t know at all.”

The profile was recognized as one of the top three features among medium-sized daily newspapers.

Davis and The Star’s Scott Canon previously earned a 2012 Best in Business Award in breaking news for their coverage of Tokyo-based SoftBank Corp.’s deal to buy Sprint.
