Sprint agreements expand LTE coverage for itself and rural carriers

Sprint Corp. announced roaming agreements with 12 rural and regional wireless networks to share the companies’ 4G services that use Long Term Evolution, or LTE, technology.

The agreements allow customers of the smaller carriers to access Sprint’s LTE network when they travel outside their home carriers’ network ranges. Those carriers also gain access to LTE network equipment and handsets at lower costs through the agreement with Sprint.

Conversely, the agreements will expand Sprint’s LTE coverage by giving its customers access to the local networks’ LTE services as they develop them.

Sprint’s agreements include one with Nex-Tech Wireless, which provides cellular service in central and western Kansas and eastern Colorado.
