With a seven-day calendar to fill with events, Techweek starts with a nod to area entrepreneurs of note and a kick-off party on Monday.

The first day’s late start will allow attendees to get in one day of work or study before they jump in. Some of them can do that at the Sprint Accelerator at 210 W. 19th Terrace, which is open for “drop-in coworking” throughout the work week.

Attendees to most events need a pass, which were available for $80 prior to the start of Techweek on Monday. Attendee passes are still available but the price may have increased.

At 5 p.m., a group of up to 200 will visit the Entrepreneur Hall of Fame at the Bloch Executive Hall at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

There’s a natural segue to the official starter party because the hall’s first class of 20 inductees included John McDonald of Boulevard Brewery.

The Kansas City brewery will be the site of Techweek’s official starter party. It includes a meet and greet with companies in the LaunchKC grant competition, which will award 10 grants of $50,000 each on Friday.

Techweek’s schedule runs throughout the week with its heaviest concentration of events on Thursday and Friday. Producing all this is a Chicago-based company called Techweek Inc.

The company’s CEO Katy Lynch runs through some of the week’s highlights in this video.

Sessions later this week will explore drones, the Internet of things, big data, technology in sports and more.
