DSI expands its headquarters in downtown Kansas City
DSI, a technologically driven supply chain company, is adding 20,000 square feet to its downtown headquarters and will hire about 30 employees before year’s end.
After DSI announced two years of record growth, the company is remodeling a third floor to add to its offices at 1201 Walnut St.
DSI grew after businesses became increasingly aware of the mobile platforms it builds for companies’ supply chains, said chief marketing officer Steve Maegdlin. DSI creates these mobile platforms to increase productivity and efficiency in supply chains for businesses ranging from engineering to retail.
Plus, Maegdlin said, DSI continues to evolve as a company after 36 years of technological development.
“We’re expanding our capabilities so that companies can have complete visibility all the way up and down the supply chain,” Maegdlin said.
To keep up with demand, DSI since the beginning of this year has hired about 60 employees in development, marketing and production management, among other areas. New employees have set up shop in previously open office space and sometimes even in conference rooms until construction on the new floor is complete.
The company expects to move into the new space in November.
“If we’re nervous about one thing, it’s that 60,000 square feet won’t be enough,” Maegdlin said.
Although DSI is based in Kansas City, it also has employees working across the U.S. and in Asia, Europe and Latin America. DSI has 233 employees altogether, including 183 here.
