Garmin expands wearable fitness product line
Garmin International Inc. has created Connect IQ, an open platform for developers to create apps for the company’s line of wearable fitness products.
Olathe-based Garmin said the apps will be available on select Garmin wearable products in 2015.
“As an early mover in the wearable market, we are excited to open up the Garmin platform to third-party developers,” said Dawn Iddings, Garmin’s vice president of business development.
Garmin said developers can create widgets, apps, watch faces and other tools for its wearable line of fitness products.
“Developers can create widgets to add to the main (data) screen … like the score of the big game or when the user needs to hydrate during a long run,” a company news release said.
