A hackathon-style weekend event hosted by the Nerdery in three cities helps nonprofits develop better websites for free.

Registration is open for the Nerdery’s annual Overnight Website Challenge, during which teams in three cities compete to build the best websites for nonprofit agencies.

The competition pairs Web professionals with local nonprofits to build a better website for free. Started in 2008, the event has delivered more than $5 million in services to 144 nonprofit groups.

Kansas City’s Nerdery office is accepting applications from 501(c)3 groups through April 1 and from Web workers through April 12. Teams will form to help local agencies improve their websites for free on May 2 and 3.

Teams in the company’s headquarters in the Minneapolis area and in the Chicago area also will compete in the 24-hour hackathon-style event. Local judges from the nonprofit and interactive communities of each city will assess the outcomes.

Interested nonprofits, Web professionals and sponsors should send email to info@overnightwebsitechallenge.com or call 877-664-6373 (OMG-NERD).
