Sprint adds ex-DirecTV executive to its board of directors
Sprint Corp. has added the former top finance officer of DirecTV to its board of directors.
Patrick Doyle had retired as executive vice president and chief financial officer of the satellite TV company when AT&T completed its purchase of DirecTV in July 2015. He had started at the company in 1992, when it was called Hughes Electronics Corp.
AT&T is one of Sprint’s chief competitors in the wireless phone business and has offered unlimited data plans to wireless customers who also buy DirecTV.
“Pat has decades of experience in finance and accounting, and I am pleased to welcome him to Sprint’s board of directors,” Masayoshi Son, Sprint’s chairman, said in an announcement. “As Sprint continues to grow and rebuild, Pat will provide valuable leadership to the company.”
Adding Doyle expanded Sprint’s board of directors to eight members. He also will lead the board’s audit committee.
