Sprint Corp. will release its official third-quarter results Tuesday morning, presumably a repeat of its preliminary report from last week.

Major investors certainly aren’t expecting any substantive changes, but they’ll tune in anyway.

CEO Marcelo Claure and other executives will discuss the results and add more information in the company’s traditional quarterly conference call with analysts, which the public can listen to by calling in. Claure also will hold a conference call with reporters after the analysts call.

Claure already has tweeted about Sprint’s customer gains and AT&T’s customer losses among high-value phone subscribers.

News often comes from these calls, including Claure’s talk about price increases during an analyst call in July, his declaration a year ago that the company had stopped the exodus of high-value customers, and his announcement of 2,000 layoffs a year before that.

Sprint said last week that it added 740,000 subscribers during July, August and September — the third quarter of the calendar year — including 344,000 in its higher-revenue customer counts. The report covers the second quarter of Sprint’s fiscal year, which runs from April 1 of each year to March 31 of the next year.

Sprint’s preliminary report said revenues grew by 3 percent to $8.25 billion with its dominant wireless business growing revenues by nearly 5 percent from a year ago.

The Overland Park-based wireless company continued to lose money, posting a net loss of $142 million, its preliminary report said.
