Overland Park-based Compass Minerals reports lower financial results
Compass Minerals on Monday reported lower first quarter earnings and revenue, largely because of the mild winter weather and weakness in its agricultual markets.
The Overland Park-based company, which produces highway de-icing and plant nutrition products, said quarterly profits fell to $49.7 million for the three months that ended March 31, down from $60.6 million in the same quarter in 2015.
Quarterly revenue fell 12 percent to $345.7 million. Compass said both its salt and plant nutrition businesses generated lower sales.
