A stylish Kansas City eatery is about to bring its caffeinated creations and organic bites farther south.

Billie’s Grocery — a popular breakfast, lunch and coffee spot with two existing locations — will soon open its third restaurant.

The new location will be in Overland Park’s Bluhawk shopping district off 159th Street and U.S. Highway 69. Owner Robin Krause said she has yet to receive an official address for the spot, since it’s a new buildout.

Also in that area are restaurants Of Course Kitchen & Co., Five Guys, Jinya Ramen Bar and Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ.

Krause told The Star in an interview Friday that the restaurant will be in the district’s second phase of construction, which will bring several other retail concepts.

“Kind of an untapped market out there,” Krause said. “Have a lot of new tenants coming to the new phase that I’m excited to be neighbors with. I think it’s gonna be great.”

The new location will open in mid- to late 2027.

Krause, who is the original owner of The Filling Station, first opened Billie’s at 3216 Gillham Plaza in 2020. She expanded to Leawood, 3614 W. 95th St., in 2023.

Krause told The Star on Friday that she’d like to add a few more Billie’s locations in the near future. She’s looking in Lee’s Summit and has offers to open the brand in other states, but she had nothing concrete to share.

Recently, she opened Mexican-American restaurant Casa Ama at 8228 Mission Road, in the longtime Prairie Village Salty Iguana space.

The new Billie’s location will have the same menu as the others:

“We’re really excited to go out south,” Krause said.

Bluhawk broke ground in 2022, and it features a 420,000 square-foot sports park and hundreds of acres set aside for restaurant and retail space. Much of it is still under development.
