Editor's Note: Beloved bookstore and cocktail bar, Afterword Taverns and Shelves, announced it is opening its new location this weekend.

Afterword was force to close its Crossroads location at 1834 Grand Blvd. in January because the building’s new owner was planning a different concept. In April, the cocktail bar announced it would move into the former Brewer’s Corner space at 3105 Gillham Road, according to manager Kate Smith.

Monday afternoon, the cocktail bar announced in an Instagram post it would reopen its doors Saturday, June 13. The bar will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Regular business hours have not been announced.

Selling books and serving literary-themed cocktails, Afterword was started by Christian Overgaard and Luke Pitz in 2018.

Previous reporting by the Star’s Jenna Thompson was used in this piece.
