Openings & Closings

2 popular Westport nightclubs are closing at the end of February

Westport nightclub Off Key is scheduled to close this month after 12 years.

Off Key, a popular karaoke bar at 510 Westport Road, will have its last day on Feb. 28, according Kat Clark, general manager of both Off Key and Throwback, a nightclub next door.

“What started as an idea became a community because of you. We are incredibly proud of what was built here and deeply grateful to every guest, employee, performer, vendor, Neighbor and friend that became a part of Offkey’s history,” Off Key said in a Facebook post.

The closure comes after the owners of the building decided not to renew the business’s lease, according to Clark, but she added there are talks of Off Key moving to a different space under a new name but the same ownership.

Throwback, on the other hand, will close permanently, according to Clark.

“Since opening our doors August 4, 2014 Westport has been home to thousands of birthdays, bachelorette parties, first dates and late night sing-alongs that turned into a lifetime of memories,” Off Key said in the post.

Off Key will be throwing a goodbye party on Saturday, Feb. 28, according to Clark. Doors open at 7 p.m. and close for good at 2 a.m.am.

“As this chapter comes to close, we’re focusing on finishing strong and celebrating the space the way it deserves with music, laughter, and full rooms one last time,” the post said. “If you ever said ‘we need to go back to Offkey’ this is your sign to book before February 28th. Let’s make this last week legendary.”
