Popular Kansas City bar chain opening new location in Johnson County
The Bar — a well-known, Kansas City-based sports bar and grill — is opening a new space in Johnson County.
The company’s next location will be part of a new shopping strip being developed by the RH Johnson Company in Olathe at 17927 W. 119th St., near the Hy-Vee. It will be The Bar’s sixth location in the metro.
The new location will be sizable with a 5,500 square foot interior and a roughly 3,000 square foot patio and outdoor space, according to Amy Turpin, The Bar’s director of operations.
Turpin teased something major coming to the green space area of the new location, but didn’t want to give away any surprises too early.
“We have something very, very exciting happening at that location that I cannot reveal, but it’s something that no other bar has,” she said. “The outdoor area will be fantastic.”
The spot’s opening date will depend on construction, but Turpin expects the project to wrap up in late 2026.
Like its other locations, The Bar will serve chips and queso, potato skins, sliders, wraps, burgers and other food and alcoholic beverage options.
Its other spots include Prairie Village at 5316 W. 95th St., West Plaza at 1121 W. 47th St., and 14871 W. 151st St. in Olathe.
