Popular fast food chain Chick-fil-A is opening another location in Kansas City.

The latest spot is coming to the Metro North Crossing development near U.S. 169 and Barry Road, according to a media release.

The chicken-centric restaurant is anticipated to open late this year. It will be at the corner of Barry Road and Wyandotte Street next to Dutch Bros.

Franchisees Amy and Andy Gallawa are opening the new location.

Based in Atlanta, Chick-fil-A has more than a dozen locations in the area, including one nearby at 6501 NW Barry Road. That spot is also owned by the Gallawas.

The Metro North Crossing development was once home to Metro North Mall, which was in operation from 1976 to 2014.

IAS Partners Ltd. acquired the mall in 2015 and has since worked to revitalize the 106-acre spot, bringing in several restaurant and retail tenants over the years.

The mall itself was demolished in 2017, leaving only Macy’s and some other freestanding businesses.

A few months ago, Thai Orchid opened its second location in the development at 464 NW Legacy Drive.

Furniture Mall of Missouri will also open a spot in the mall’s former Macy’s building at 400 NW Barry Road. It’s expected to open by the end of the year.

Other tenants at the development include Third Street Social, T-Shotz, and KPot Korean Hotpot and Barbecue.
