Kansas City restaurant has closed after 10 years: ‘An honor to serve you’
Charisse has closed in downtown Kansas City.
“After many wonderful years of serving our amazing guests, we are closing the door on this chapter of our lives,” reads a note posted Thursday to the door at 1006 Walnut St. “It has been an honor to serve you, and we will miss you all. Sorry for the temporary inconvenience while a new spot is envisioned.”
The restaurant’s signage has also been removed from the black dome awning out front.
Chef-owner Jason Craine did not respond to a request for comment.
Craine was the former executive chef at Aixois Brasserie, which opened a downtown satellite location in the same space in 2012. Two years later, Aixois owners Megan and Emmanuel Langlade handed off the restaurant to Craine, and he soon renamed it Charisse.
Situated inside the Commerce Bank Building in KC’s financial district, Charisse catered to downtown’s power-lunch crowd. The restaurant served French fare in its early years but more recently described itself as an American restaurant.
