First Watch will close one of its Johnson County locations after choosing not to renew the lease.

The breakfast restaurant of more than five years at 8180 W. 135th St. in Overland Park will stop serving customers Feb. 23.

“As we make this transition, our employees are our #1 priority, and as such, they’ve been offered roles at nearby locations,” a spokesperson with First Watch wrote in a statement. “We’re grateful to the community for welcoming us for so many years, and look forward to serving our customers at our many other locations in the Kansas City area for years to come.”

The company said that it was strictly a lease issue and no other Johnson County locations will close.

The Florida-based chain — serving frittatas, French toast, pancakes, pressed juice and more — has more than a dozen restaurants in the area, including ones at 9102 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park and 15289 W. 119th St. in Olathe.

The chain began in 1983 in Pacific Grove, California.
