An ‘over-the-top’ Christmas pop-up is coming to Johnson County for the first time
Christmas-lovers who’ve dreamed of stepping inside a wintry snow globe scene will finally get the chance.
Soon, three restaurants in the Kansas City area will be bedecked with lights, candy canes, greenery and other seasonal decor.
Snowglobe — a Christmas pop-up founded in Lawrence in 2020 — will open at Blue Moose, 10064 Woodland Road in Lenexa, and Barley’s, 11924 W. 119th St. in Overland Park, on Tuesday.
Snowglobe is going on now at Calaveras in Lee’s Summit, 219 E. Main St.
This season will be the first time Snowglobe has ventured to Johnson County. Calaveras hosted the pop-up last year.
A media release described the pop-up as an “over-the-top Christmas experience.”
“We are very excited to be bringing extra holiday cheer to Johnson County in 2024. Blue Moose and Barley’s are perfect partners for Snowglobe, and we look forward to creating lasting memories for patrons and families in that community,” Jan-Eric Anderson, one of Snowglobe’s owners, said in a written statement.
Snowglobe’s Christmas-themed menu varies by location. A sampling of Barley’s menu: You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out Spicy Chicken Pizza, Frosty’s Sweets (red velvet and cream cheese brownie topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream) and cocktails like Jovie’s Candy Cane Dream (360 Vanilla Vodka, peppermint bark rumchata and a sugared rim, served over ice).
At Blue Moose: Chicken Prancer Picatta (wood-grilled chicken breasts served over angel hair pasta, with capers and sautéed mushrooms in a lemon butter sauce), Dancer’s Dueling Butter Cakes (vanilla and Nutella butter cakes with a raspberry sauce and whipped cream), and Mrs. Claus cocktail (Meile Vodka, pomegranate juice, strawberry puree and Truly strawberry lime seltzer).
Reservations are free and can be made online at snowglobe-popup.com or by calling the restaurants.
The pop-up will be at Barley’s until Jan. 4. Blue Moose and Calaveras’ pop-ups will run until Jan. 5.
Snowglobe also has locations in Topeka, Lawrence and Des Moines.
