Einstein Bros Bagels — a Colorado-based breakfast chain offering bagels, pastries and coffee — is opening another Kansas City area location.

The chain announced via Instagram that it’s opening soon in Lenexa. Its website lists the address as 11910 W. 95th St.

An exact opening date was not available. Einstein Bros did not respond to The Star’s requests for comment.

The new store will mark the company’s fifth store in Johnson County. Its other spots are at 4050 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Fairway, 8600 College Blvd. in Overland Park, 8700 W. 135th St. in Overland Park and 6970 Mission Road in Prairie Village.

It has two in Kansas City: 1100 Rockhurst Road on Rockhurst University campus, and 5100 Rockhill Road on the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus.

Einstein Bros offers a variety of bagel flavors: asiago cheese, pretzel, cinnamon sugar, cheesy hash, maple French toast and more.

Its bagel breakfast sandwiches include the Texas brisket egg sandwich (eggs, smoked brisket, cheddar cheese and chipotle aioli on a jalapeno bagel) and garden avocado egg sandwich (eggs, avocado, spinach and roasted tomato on an everything bagel).

Einstein Bros first opened in 1995, after Kansas City’s own Bagel & Bagel brand, as well as two other national bagel companies, formed Progressive Bagel Concepts Inc. The company converted its combined stores into Einstein Bros.

Progressive’s spokesman said at the time that the aim was to make an instant national brand.

The Kansas City area once had 22 Bagel & Bagel stores.

Today, Einstein Bros is part of Bagel Brands — which is owned by Panera Brands — and includes Bruegger’s Bagels, Noah’s Bagels and Manhattan Bagel.
