Chuck E. Cheese’s sister restaurant — Peter Piper Pizzeria — was only open a year in Olathe before it closed.

Now, the space at 15139 W 119th St. will be home to Drake and Samuel L. Jackson-backed Dave’s Hot Chicken.

The location is projected to open at the beginning of next year, according to the company.

It will be the hot chicken restaurant’s third spot in the Kansas City area. Dave’s opened last year at 9097 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park and 4121 Broadway Blvd. in Westport.

Dave’s menu includes chicken tenders and sandwiches that range from “no spice” to “reaper.” (The latter is so spicy, Dave’s asks customers to sign a waiver before eating.)

It also serves shakes, fries, kale coleslaw, and mac and cheese.

The company has been named one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the country, but it started humbly as a parking lot pop-up in Los Angeles in 2017. Samuel L. Jackson and Drake became minority investors in the company in 2021.

Peter Piper Pizzeria is a “more mature” concept, focusing more on the food and less on the entertainment, though it does have a few arcade games. But it also recently closed its only other area location at 8809 State Line Road.

That spot just reopened as a Chuck E. Cheese.
