One of the most popular taquerias in Kansas City, Kansas, has expanded.

The Contreras family, who owns Carniceria y Tortilleria San Antonio (830 Kansas Ave.), earlier this month opened Super San Antonio, a grocery store a half-block east.

The building at 800 Kansas Ave. formerly housed a Family Dollar, which closed in April.

Unlike the original, the new location does not have a butcher shop, tortilla factory or taco counter. It sells fresh produce, meat from owner Victor Contreras’ AVA Meat Processing, baked goods, and a variety of Mexican food staples.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
