Pie Five Pizza is no longer serving slices in the Kansas City area.

The quick-service pizza chain, which started in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2011, has closed its last restaurant in the metro at 9133 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park. The location had been open since 2015.

Crews began construction last week to turn the space into a Five Guys burger restaurant, according to property manager Istvan Tamas with Weigand-Omega Management.

The Topeka location — Pie Five’s only other spot in Kansas — also closed this month.

Tamas said he’s unsure when the new Five Guys restaurant will open. Another Five Guys recently opened at 11900 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee.

Pie Five first entered the market in 2013, when it opened a location at 13366 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park (now sushi and poke restaurant Hokibar). At one time, it also had locations at 534 Westport Road, 6809 Johnson Drive in Mission, and 12154 W. 95th St. in Lenexa.

With a handful of locations still left in other states, Pie Five offers made-to-order pizza in less than five minutes.

Customers can customize their pies, with a variety of crusts, sauce, cheese, veggies and more.
