New wings restaurant opening in Johnson County: Thai chili, mango habanero, shrimp

A Kansas City wing restaurant will soon open a location in Overland Park.

Mr. Wingz will open at 9532 Antioch Road in the Cherokee Hills shopping center, according to city documents.

The business told The Star via Instagram messages that it plans to open this fall. It will stop selling wings at its current location, the carryout-only Crossroads Food Stop, at 1600 Campbell St., this month.

Mr. Wingz offers wing flavors like Buffalo, Thai chili, mango habanero and Memphis sweet. It also sells shrimp, chicken tenders, carrot cake and more.

Other wing restaurants nearby include Wingstop at 9113 Metcalf Ave. and Buffalo Wild Wings at 7030 W. 105th St. Korean chicken restaurant 92 Chicken is at 10326 Metcalf Ave.

Celebrity-owned wing restaurant Dave’s Hot Chicken made its way to the Kansas City area last year with its 9097 Metcalf Ave. spot. It opened another in Westport at 4121 Broadway Blvd.

In Leawood, Kansas City’s Mother Clucker will take over the old BurgerFi location at 11635 Ash St. in Park Place An opening date was not available.
