Grandview officially has its first Whataburger.

The Texas-based chain opened Monday in the Truman’s Marketplace shopping center at 12424 S. U.S. Highway 71. The site is a former Applebee’s, which closed in 2018. Whataburger razed the Applebee’s building last year.

The location is owned by KMO Burger LLC, in which Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a partner.

Like many of the other Whataburgers that have popped up around Kansas City in recent years, the Grandview restaurant has a dual-lane drive-thru and keeps long hours: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday to Sunday. Breakfast is served from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.

KMO Burger has said it plans to open 30 Whataburgers in the KC area before it’s all said and done.
