McLain’s opening yet another Johnson County bakery cafe; another KC spot on the way
Another location of McLain’s Market — a locally owned Kansas City area bakery and cafe — officially opens Monday.
The new Overland Park spot at 15102 Travis St., in the old Jersey Boyz Deli near West 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue, will serve a limited menu with shortened hours before then.
Next year, McLain’s will open its next location in North Kansas City at 1720 Swift St.
(By complete coincidence, the two newest markets are on streets sharing the names of the world’s most famous couple: Travis and Swift streets — get it?)
McLain’s opened its first Kansas City bakery in 1945. Its new owners took over in 2013 and expanded its menu to include lunch, breakfast and specialty coffee.
McLain’s has four other spots in the area: 201 E. Gregory Blvd., 10695 Roe Ave. in Overland Park, 5833 Nieman Road in Shawnee, and 2412 Iowa St. in Lawrence.
The restaurant sells breakfast bowls, pastries, wraps (like its sweet potato quinoa “market wrap”), and more. Plus, sweets like its signature cupcookie — a miniature chocolate almond sandy.
The new McLain’s will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays and Mondays, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
