This 6,000-square-foot Johnson County barn will be transformed into holiday-themed bar

KC Wine Co.’s business changes with the seasons.

During the warmer months, patrons saunter around the grapevines and slurp up wine slushies. When fall rolls around, the other half of KC Wine Co.’s property — KC Pumpkin Patch — opens.

Now KC Wine Co. at 13875 S. Gardner Road is looking to take full advantage of the holiday season with its newly built, 6,000-square-foot barn.

The Jingle barn will have several photo-ops, its owner says.

Jingle, the holiday pop-up bar

On Nov. 24, KC Wine Co.’s new holiday pop-up called Jingle will open, serving Christmas cosmopolitans, cranberry cider, mistletoe margaritas and jingle juice.

Plus, Christmas cookies, flat breads and other snacks.

“We’re pretty excited and think it’ll be fun,” said KC Wine Co.’s part-owner Taylor Roesch.

Admission will be free — no reservations needed. Customers who are 21 or older can simply come, buy a drink and snap pictures.

“It’s all decked out. There’s lots of photo-op places,” Roesch said. “It’s beautiful.”

Inside the barn, twinkling string lights hang from the ceiling. Nutcrackers, Christmas trees and sleighs fill the bottom floor. Extra seating on the mezzanine level of the bar allows Jingle to seat upwards of 380 people, Roesch said.

Garlands wrap around a staircase, with red bows neatly tied on each side. Sixteen glass garage doors lining the barn give patrons a full view of the vineyard.

Other events at KC Wine Co. barn

Post-Christmas, Roesch said KC Wine Co. plans to use the barn on and off for various events.

KC Wine Co.’s indoor facilities allow it to stay open year-round, on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.

Roesch’s parents, Kirk and Julie Berggren, started KC Pumpkin Patch in Gardner about 20 years ago. In 2015, the Berggrens moved north to the Olathe vineyard and opened the KC Wine Co. side of the business.

Since 2020, KC Wine Co. has offered Winter Wonderland: a family-friendly Christmas light walk-through featuring a hot cocoa bar and visits from Santa. The light display is coming back again this year, Roesch said, but she wanted to provide adults with the same holiday magic.

Winter Wonderland will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m., Nov. 24 to Dec. 17. Tickets can be purchased on KC Wine Co.’s website and are currently on sale for $10.

Jingle will run from 4 to 9 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 24 to Dec. 17.
