After a decade as a Google Fiber store, 1814 Westport Road has sat empty since the web giant vacated the space last year.

There are now plans for the site, according to city filings, which indicate the fast-casual Mexican food chain Chipotle plans to raze the two buildings on the property and construct a single-story building and parking lot.

The new Chipotle will be only a half-mile from another Chipotle in the Volker neighborhood, at 1713 W. 39th St.

“Chipotle will be opening a new location at the corner of Westport Road and State Line,” said Matt Kaushal, executive vice president of The Tutera Group, which manages the property. “The City Planning Commission has approved the project plan and the subsequent construction plans and permit submittals will be forthcoming to proceed with the new development.”

Kaushal added that the location will feature a “Chipotlane” — a drive-thru lane where motorists can pick up online orders only.

The plan still requires approval from the full City Council.
