Paris Bánh Mì, an Orlando-based sandwich and coffee chain, plans to open its first Kansas City outpost this fall.

A sign for the cafe and bakery is already up at 1106 Westport Road, the former home of Mike’s Wine and Spirits, which moved into a new, larger location next door in 2019.

Binh Dang, who is opening the franchise, told The Star Thursday that he plans a September opening, but doesn’t have a set date.

“We will have most everything from the Paris Bánh Mì menu, including pho, bánh mìs and Korean corn dogs,” Dang said. “We don’t have a lot of places like this in Kansas City, and by opening this I am hoping to help change that.”

The chain was founded in Florida in 2019 by Hien Tran and Doan Nguyen; the former grew up in Paris and the latter owned a chain of bakeries in Saigon, according to the restaurant’s website. The menu features a selection of the restaurant’s namesake Vietnamese sandwiches (a sliced baguette typically filled with meat, pickled vegetables, cilantro, cucumber, jalapenos and a pâté or mayonnaise). It also serves French-style pastries, coffees and boba drinks.

Paris Bánh Mì now has more than 20 locations across the U.S., in Florida, Texas, Iowa, Michigan and Oklahoma.
