Hawaiian-style chain opens 6th KC-area spot, in Johnson County. Guess who’s nearby?
Yet another Mo’ Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food will soon open in Johnson County — the second location in Overland Park and sixth in the Kansas City area.
The new Mo’ Bettahs at 12005 Metcalf Ave. will begin serving customers Friday.
The Utah-based Hawaiian restaurant chain sells customizable plates with white rice, macaroni salad and a choice of meat — including teriyaki chicken, kalua pork and shrimp tempura.
In August, the first Mo’ Bettahs opened in the area at 7006 W. 75th St. in Overland Park. More locations popped up in Blue Springs, Olathe, Lee’s Summit and Liberty.
Mo’ Bettahs’ newest location took over a space once occupied by Boston Market and is just up the road from Kansas City-based rival Hawaiian Bros at 13680 Metcalf Ave.
Hawaiian Bros still outnumbers Mo’ Bettahs in the metro, with twice as many restaurants.
Mo’ Bettahs’ CEO Rob Ertmann said the team is excited to expand into south Overland Park, noting its audience has grown exponentially this year.
“Kansas City has been good to us,” he said.
Mo’ Bettahs is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
