Kansas City-based Cerner Corp. and Truman Medical Centers said Monday that they will work on a pilot health care information technology program to better use patient health and care data in an effort to promote long-range population health.

The hospital system, which already uses Cerner medical records software, will have a more active partnership with Cerner employees, some of whom will work onsite at Truman facilities “to experience firsthand how Cerner technology affects the health care environment,” the companies said.

The medical facility said it expects to benefit from improved information technology staffing and training and access to more IT resources.
