Last two federal agencies to move from Bannister complex

The last two tenants scheduled to vacate the sprawling Bannister Federal Complex in south Kansas City have found a new home — a business and industrial park being developed in Grandview.

The National Logistics Support Center and the National Reconditioning Center, which both support the National Weather Service, are scheduled to begin moving in fall 2015 and complete their relocation by year’s end, the U.S. General Services Administration said Monday. The two U.S. Commerce Department agencies, combined, have about 80 employees who provide parts and repair weather, computer and radar equipment.

The agencies are scheduled to move into a 222,500-square-foot facility at 14200 Merritt Road, becoming the first tenants in the business park being developed by Kessinger/Hunter & Co.

The GSA said all current tenants in the Bannister complex are either in the process of relocating or actively working on emptying out of the facility by 2015 so a redevelopment can begin.
