KC home construction activity running at eight-year high
Home construction activity in the Kansas City area remained strong in September, and year-to-date totals are running at an eight-year high, the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City reported.
The association said 462 permits were issued for single-family homes last month, compared with 383 in September 2014. The latest number also was up 37 permits from August.
Through the first nine months of this year, 3,450 single-family permits were issued, an eight-year high. The nine-month total was up 9 percent from the same period a year ago, the asociation said.
The top five cities for home construction activity in September were Kansas City, Olathe, Overland Park, Lee’s Summit and Lenexa.
The association also noted tht multi-family construction continued to increase, with permits issued last month for 756 units.
