Area construction spending fell in August

Construction spending in the Kansas City area dipped in August, but it is up 38 percent through the first eight months of this year, Dodge Data & Analytics reported Wednesday.

In August, total residential and nonresidential spending fell 5 percent to $307.15 million from a year earlier. But year to date, total building construction was valued at $2.83 billion, the report said.

The report covered a 15-county area in Missouri and Kansas.
