Home construction remains active in the Kansas City area
Construction activity for single-family homes in the Kansas City area climbed in August and is running 7 percent higher for the year, the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City reported Wednesday.
Builders took out 425 permits last month, up 27 from July and 73 more than a year earlier, the association said.
Through the first eight months of 2015, 2,971 permits have been issued.
The association said single-family home construction has been heaviest so far this year in Johnson County, with 1,054 permits issued through August. Kansas City has been the busiest municipality, with 632 permits issued during the first eight months of the year.
