Building activity climbs in KC area
Building activity in the Kansas City area jumped more than four-fold in February compared with a year ago, Dodge Data & Analytics reported Thursday.
The report, which compiles contracts awarded for future construction in a 15-county area, said $464.3 million in nonresidential and residential building contracts were issued last month. That’s up from $111.3 million in Feburary 2014, the report said.
Nonresidential contracts led the way, at $304.7 million in February. Residential contracts amounted to $159.6 million for the month.
For the first two months of 2015, $768.5 million in total building contracts have been issued in the area, up from $359.8 million for the same period last year.
