Epoch Developments buys River Market property from heirs of Tom Trabon
Epoch Developments from Denver has completed the purchase of nearly two blocks of River Market properties, owned previously by the late Tom Trabon, for about $5 million.
Craig Slawson, with Epoch Developments, on Friday confirmed the acquisition of the Trabon-owned properties between Delaware and Wyandotte streets, and Third Street nearly to Fifth Street.
The properties include the Farmhouse restaurant and several apartments above the commercial space. The streetcar runs just to the east of the properties. The property purchase does not include the DELofts building at Fifth and Delaware streets.
“We just saw an opportunity on the streetcar,” Slawson said. “We are in the process of upgrading the apartments and building out all the commercial spaces and then (we) sit and study what to do with the property at a future date.”
Trabon died earlier this year after a long battle with cancer. He owned the accounting firm Trabon & Co. and had been chairman of the Kansas City Streetcar Authority, among other civic ventures.
