The former Dunbar school at 5419 E. 36th St., one of the repurposed Kansas City Public Schools buildings, has reopened as The Carousel Adult Day Care.

The school, built in 1954 and closed in 2010, now serves as an adult care site and outpatient dementia service for about 40 elderly persons and persons with disabilities.

The Carousel, which has been in operation since 2001, moved to the Dunbar site under a lease agreement with an option to purchase.

The new location will allow The Carousel to serve about 80 clients and add care for veterans with disabilities.
