Investors seek to sell or develop properties along Gillham Road in KC
Valli Keller and Brooke Sheldon, real estate investment partners doing business as Kansas City Apartments, want to do something with property they own in the 2800 block of Gillham Road.
They’re open to selling the existing three-story brick masonry apartment building at 2805-2807 Gillham and an adjacent lot or entering a partnership with a developer.
Keller and Sheldon, who split time between Kansas City and Santa Barbara, Calif., have owned the parcels since 2006, but are acting now to capitalize on the residential and commercial growth trend in the Longfellow, Union Hill and Crown Center areas.
Bob Galamba with Colliers International said the nearby Truman Medical Center, Children’s Mercy Hospital and Crown Center — as well as new apartments and restaurants — are contributing to “an urban core renaissance” in the area.
About $90 million in redevelopment is under way, generally between 28th and 31st streets along the Gillham corridor.
Projects include Gallery Green along Gillham south of Crown Center, 31Levy at 31st and Gillham, Founders apartments at 30th and Gillham, and Twenty9 G at 29th and Gillham.
The Keller/Sheldon properties consist of a 12,636-square-foot apartment building and 7,846 square feet of vacant land, or about a half acre of land in all.
