Suitsupply, Kendra Scott & Cyclebar for Leawood; Crossroads Hoopla closes
Amsterdam-based Suitsupply is entering the market with a new Leawood store in spring 2017.
It is taking a space at 4419 W. 119th St. in Town Center Crossing, near L.L. Bean. The privately held men’s fashion brand was founded in 2000 and now has more than 60 stores in the U.S., Europe and Asia. A company spokeswoman described it as a one-stop shop for men’s fashions, including suits made from Italian fabrics and tailored while the customer waits (usually in about 30 minutes), and also jackets, shirts, pants, ties, shorts, swimwear, sunglasses, bags and more.
▪ Austin, Texas-based jewelry retailer Kendra Scott plans a fall opening in Town Center Crossing, near the Apple store.
Kendra Scott was founded in 2002 and is now a global, multimillion-dollar brand. Its products are sold in upscale department stores like Halls, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, as well as at more than 1,000 specialty boutiques worldwide. It entered the market with a Plaza location a year ago.
▪ Cyclebar, a chain of premium indoor cycling studios, also plans a fall opening in Town Center Plaza, on the north side near Bose.
Officials with Town Center Plaza and Town Center Crossing confirmed the leases.
Crossroads loses Hoopla
Just over a year after opening in the Crossroads, Hoopla studio has closed at 1817 Wyandotte St. It offered nail, wax, massage and skin care treatments.
Owners Molly Maxwell and Megan Thornberry said other nearby businesses, including Snow & Co., are leaving the area and they have seen a “significant decrease in foot traffic and overall activity.” They plan to concentrate on their growing locations in Fairway and Leawood, as well as introduce new seasonal products, including two new fall polishes and holiday gift sets, and services such as lash extensions and spray tanning.
“We loved being in the Crossroads and it is a growing area. It’s just that the growth on the residential side has not caught up yet,” Thornberry said.
Hoopla was founded in 2012 to offer hygienic treatments and its own line of mini nail polishes in 45 shades.
