Here are area restaurants with 7 or more priority or critical health code violations, with highlighted links to some original public record reports by city or county health inspectors.

Restaurants correct most violations at the time of the original inspection or shortly thereafter. Links to the follow-up inspections show how each establishment has corrected or is working to correct any remaining violations.

The Kansas Department of Agriculture cited these operations for 7 or more priority health code violations (direct links are not available):

▪ La Fuente Mexican Restaurant, 10901 W. 75th St., Shawnee, had 14 priority violations during a July 27 standardization inspection.

▪ Knub’s Pub, 5386 Roberts St., Shawnee, had 13 priority violations during a July 28 standardization inspection.

▪ Lucky Brewgrille, 5401 Johnson Drive, Mission, had 11 priority violations during a July 28 routine inspection.

▪ Mi Ranchito, 964 S. Harrison, Olathe, had 10 priority violations during a July 28 routine inspection.

▪ Ruchi Indian Cuisine, 11168 Antioch Road, Overland Park, had 10 priority violations during a June 14 routine inspection. It had 4 priority violations during a June 27 follow-up inspection.

▪ China Inn, 20166 W. 153rd St., Olathe, had 9 priority violations during a July 21 routine inspection. It had 1 priority violation during an Aug. 5 follow-up inspection.

▪ Danny’s Bar & Grill, 10940 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan., had 9 priority violations during a July 28 follow-up inspection.

▪ Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant, 13803 W. 63rd St., Shawnee, had 9 priority violations during a July 28 standardization inspection.

▪ Jarocho Authentic Mexican Seafood, 719 W. Kansas Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 9 priority violations during an Aug. 3 routine inspection.

▪ Tatsu’s French Restaurant, 4603 W. 90th St., Prairie Village, had 9 priority violations during a June 23 routine inspection. It had no priority violations during a July 8 follow-up inspection.

▪ Arthur Bryant’s, 1702 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan., had 8 priority violations during a July 19 follow-up inspection.

▪ Beer 30, 9150 Lexington Ave., De Soto, had 8 priority violations during a July 27 routine inspection.

▪ Kulture Kurry, 9940 College Blvd., Overland Park, had 8 priority violations during a July 13 routine inspection. It had no priority violations during a follow-up inspection later that day

▪ Lutfi’s Fried Fish, 7704 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 8 priority violations during a July 20 routine inspection.

▪ Jose Pepper’s Border Grill & Cantina, 13770 Blackbob Road, Olathe, had 8 priority violations during a July 19 routine inspection. It had 1 priority violation during a July 29 follow-up inspection.

▪ La Bendicion de Yahve, 1005 Osage Ave., Kansas City, Kan., had 8 priority violations during an Aug. 3 follow-up inspection.

▪ Mi Ranchito, 8550 W. 151st St., Overland Park, had 8 priority violations during an Aug. 4 inspection following a complaint.

▪ Rosati’s Pizza, 9928 College Blvd., Overland Park, had 8 priority violations during a June 30 routine inspection.

▪ Sheridan’s Unforked, 7337 W. 119th St., Overland Park, had 8 priority violations during a July 18 routine inspection. It had 4 priority violations during a July 28 follow-up inspection.

▪ Subway, 10902 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan., had 8 priority violations during a June 27 routine inspection.

▪ Austins Bar & Grill, 2013 E. 151st St., Olathe, had 7 priority violations during a July 19 routine inspection. It had 2 priority violations during an Aug. 3 follow-up inspection.

▪ Cactus Grill, 11849 Roe Ave., Leawood, had 7 priority violations during a July 20 inspection following a complaint. It had 2 priority violations during an Aug. 5 follow-up inspection.

▪ Dunkin’ Donuts, 18051 W. 119th St., Olathe, had 7 priority violations during a July 28 routine inspection.

▪ Frontera’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, 7779 Quivira Road, Lenexa, had 7 priority violations during a June 27 inspection following a complaint.

▪ Shawnee Apple Market, 2803 S. 47th St., Kansas City, Kan., had 7 priority violations during a July 29 follow-up inspection.

The Kansas City Health Department cited these operations for 7 or more critical health code violations:

▪ Hamburger Mary's Kansas City, 3700 Broadway, had 11 critical violations during a July 21 routine inspection. It had no critical violations during a July 29 follow-up inspection.

▪ Carniceria El Torito, 6200 Independence Ave., had 9 critical violations during a June 21 routine inspection. It had 5 critical violations during a June 29 follow-up inspection, 3 critical violations during a July 8 follow-up inspection and 1 critical violation during a July 15 follow-up inspection.

▪ The Lunch Box, 1701 W. Ninth St., had 9 critical violations during a July 22 routine inspection. It had no critical violations during a July 27 follow-up inspection.

▪ Burrito Bros, City Market, 407 Main St., had 8 critical violations during a July 21 routine inspection. It had 2 critical violations during a July 27 follow-up inspection and no critical violations during an Aug. 1 follow-up inspection.

▪ Aladdin Hotel, Zebra Room, 1215 Wyandotte St., had 7 critical violations during a July 22 routine inspection. It had no critical violations during a July 27 follow-up inspection.

▪ Taqueria El Korito, 6225 Winner Road, had 7 critical violations during a June 29 routine inspection. It had 1 critical violation during a July 6 follow-up inspection and no critical violations during a July 15 follow-up inspection.

Copies of the Green Book, a real guidebook that helped black travelers navigate segregated America, are kept at KU’s Spencer library. Several former Kansas City sites featured in the book still remain.
