Shelby Herrick Salon relocating, expanding in Westwood’s Woodside Village
After 17 years at Bijin Salon & Spa in Prairie Village, hair stylist Shelby Herrick went out on his own, opening Shelby Herrick Salon in the Fairway Shops, 2712 W. 53rd St. in Fairway, five years ago.
Now he plans to double the size of the salon in a new location in Woodside Village, at 4709 Rainbow Blvd., Westwood. It will offer haircuts, blowouts, keratin treatments, coloring and event styling services, as well as eyebrow shaping and makeup application. It also will have a larger retail space. An early 2017 opening is scheduled.
Woodside Village is a public-private partnership with Tanner & White Properties Inc. The $65-million-plus mixed-use development project will include the renovation and expansion of the Woodside Health & Tennis Club, almost 30,000 square feet of retail space and 330 residential living units.
▪ Ulah, (pronounced yew-luh), a locally-owned men’s apparel and accessories store, plans to open at 4707 Rainbow Blvd. by early October. It also will sell home decor and furniture, including the owners’ own line of furniture.
Co-founder Joey Mendez had been with Halls for nearly a decade. Co-founder Buck Wimberly had been at Hallmark for 11 years before leaving to become a brand strategist for his brother’s Texas company, Modern Home Renovation.
▪ Omaha’s Blue Sushi Sake Grill plans a September opening in Woodside Village.
