Frida’s Contemporary Mexican Cuisine closes in Overland Park
Overland Park’s Frida’s Contemporary Mexican Cuisine has closed.
In a statement, owner Alex Chaudhri said he couldn’t work out a new lease with the new owners of the Southridge retail center.
The 37,930-square-foot center was sold to a Los Angeles-based investment group, Highpoint Capital Group LLC, in January. Officials with Highpoint couldn’t be reached for comment.
Frida’s first opened in late 2009 at 14861 Metcalf Ave. In mid-2012, the owners relocated to the higher traffic Southridge center, 7200 W. 121st St., and expanded with a private party room and patio.
Frida’s co-founder Ivan Marquez said he sold his interest in the restaurant in late 2014. He is now a partner in Cacao Restaurante in Prairie Village.
