Westport’s Doughnut Lounge partners with Filling Station coffee shops

Westport’s Doughnut Lounge will soon sell some of its artisan doughnuts in the local Filling Station coffee shops.

Doughnut Lounge will make deliveries to the Filling Station retail locations — at 2980 McGee Trafficway, 1010 Westport Road and 7420 Johnson Drive in Overland Park — on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings starting Tuesday. It will drop off a dozen classic doughnuts and a dozen signatures (including gluten-free and vegan options) for the first few weeks and then increase the quantity with demand.

On Thursdays, it also will deliver to the Filling Station in the VML headquarters inside the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport.

Messenger Coffee Co., which owns the Filling Station locations, also will create a custom house-blend espresso for the Doughnut Lounge, at 4117 Pennsylvania Ave. The house-blend espresso is expected to debut in mid-August. Doughnut Lounge also will continue its coffee program featuring a rotation of local and national roasters.

Doughnut Lounge opened in late 2015. It features classics such as tres leches and double chocolate; signature doughnuts such as maple bacon and lemon poppy seed; and noduts (knife-and-fork doughnuts), including ice cream sandwiches, glazed and gravy, and succotash breakfast.
