BRGR Kitchen + Bar opening in Leawood
Kansas City-based Bread & Butter Concepts is expanding again.
The company plans to open one of its BRGR Kitchen + Bar operations in the former Barley’s Brewhaus building at 5031 W. 135th St., Leawood, in September. It will be the seventh restaurant for the company and its third BRGR Kitchen + Bar.
The BRGR Kitchen + Bar menu includes more than a dozen specialty burgers, as well as “not-so-burgers” like a marinated and grilled portabella on a multigrain bun, and buttermilk fried chicken with sriracha mayo on a corn bun, as well as salads, bowls and “snacks” like Chile fondue and fried pickle spears. The restaurants focus on fresh, local ingredients.

Barley’s remodeled the 7,000-square-foot space for a mid-2013 opening. Officials with Barley’s Brewhaus couldn’t be reached for comment.
Now Bread & Butter plans to remodel the Leawood space again, combining details from the original BRGR in Prairie Village and the Power & Light location, said Alan Gaylin, founder and chief executive officer of Bread & Butter Concepts.
Bread & Butter Concepts was founded in 2009. Its other concepts are: Urban Table, Gram & Dun, Taco Republic, Taco Republic Truck, and The Oliver. Its Stock Hill Kansas City Steakhouse is under construction just south of the Country Club Plaza and its 10,000-square-foot Cherry Hall event center, at 1720 Cherry St., is scheduled to open in early 2017.
