The Country Club Plaza is adding two new retailers and a restaurant.

▪ Kansas City native and eyewear industry expert Bill Barton, along with eyewear designer Patty Perreira, are bringing their luxury eyewear brand Barton Perreira to Kansas City, opening up shop at 421 Nichols Road in March. The Optical Shop of Aspen had previously occupied the 914-square-foot space.

It will be the third shop for the Barton Perreira brand. It also has locations in Aspen, Colo., and Nashville, Tenn.

Barton said he grew up eight blocks from the Plaza and had his first retail job there. He founded the Barton Perreira brand with Perreira in 2007, designing each piece and offering limited quantities of each design.

▪ Interior design studio and home furnishings boutique, Coveted Home, is relocating from Prairie Village’s Corinth Square to 610 W. 48th St.

The Coveted Home, an interior design studio and 1,564-square-foot showroom, is set open on the Plaza in May. The retail store will sell high-quality brand-name furniture and home decor, including items by local designers like Barbara Cosgrove Lamps as well as products by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams.

Jaclyn Joslin, designer and founder of Coveted Home, had previously owned and operated Urban Dwellings Design in the River Market. She closed that store to open Coveted Home in Corinth Square, 4113 W. 83rd St., in 2012 and plans to remain open there until shortly before the Plaza store opens.

“I think the Plaza is a really great fit for us,” Joslin said. “The other retailers that are down there are inline with what we have to offer. The Plaza is a great place for foot traffic, for more exposure. It is also a destination spot for people who live here and for people from out of town. Which I think is really cool.”

▪ A previously announced tenant, Zoës Kitchen, plans a March opening in a 2,778-square-foot space at 100 Ward Parkway. The fast casual restaurant chain offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu.

In a statement, Glenn Stephenson, Highwoods Properties vice president and division manager, said: “These highly regarded establishments add to the Plaza’s exceptional mix of exclusive boutiques, trendsetting retailers and world-class stores and restaurants.”
