Donutology is coming to Westport with classic and miniature made-to-order doughnuts
A locally owned doughnut shop concept, Donutology, will open its first location in Westport.
Owner Andrew Cameron opened his first Daylight Donuts shop in Leavenworth in 2011, then added five locations in Lansing, Lenexa, Gardner, Olathe and Overland Park. The shop at 1009 Westport Road formerly housed Tower Dry Cleaners and Laundry.
Cameron’s Donutology also will offer Daylight Donuts products along with his miniature made-to-order hot doughnuts. He plans to open in late July.
“Customers can watch the doughnuts being made, kind of like a sandwich shop,” Cameron said. “It will be for families, with interactive experiences for children. We aren’t going to have alcohol and we aren’t going to go super crazy like the fried chicken doughnut thing.”
Donutology will have white cake mini-doughnuts daily and special and seasonal flavors on Friday through Sunday only. Those could include chocolate, strawberry, blueberry and pumpkin spice. Then customers can select from a variety of icings, including powered sugar, vanilla, peanut butter and maple.
Toppings will include rainbow sprinkles, Butterfinger crumbles, bacon bits, Froot Loops, white coconut or toasted coconut, and toasted marshmallow. Drizzles include Bavarian cream, caramel or Reese’s peanut butter.
As for classics under Daylight Donuts, those varieties will include raised and cake, twists, apple fritters, bear claws, filled bismarks, fried cinnamon rolls or baked cinnamon rolls, and sausage rolls.
A Roasterie espresso bar is planned and Shatto milk flavors will be served.
Hours are tentatively 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Tulsa, Okla.-based Daylight Donuts was founded in 1954 and has nearly 1,000 outlets in 28 states and nearly a dozen international markets.
