Health House, which opened a rowing studio at 8029 State Line Road in 2013, is expanding.

It will open a location in Town Center Plaza, 5029 W. 117th St., Leawood, in September.

The new location, designed by Hufft Projects, will offer rowing classes in a studio with 30 rowers, and a full-service locker room with showers and changing rooms. It also will have a retail area and cafe station offering organic refreshments like juice blends in partnership with Enjoy Pure Food + Drink.

Owner Jon Knopke plans a variety of rowing classes mixed with cardio, strength training and yoga intervals. He has worked in management for large health club and fitness centers for nearly 16 years.

Health House will offer charter memberships to the new club for $125 a month for a limited time.

Aeropostale had formerly operated in the Leawood space.

New in Lee’s Summit

Marble Slab Creamery and Great American Cookies are combining in a new location in Summit Fair.

Franchisees Rob and Sarah Cate Armstrong of Lee’s Summit plan a soft opening for the co-branded shop at 880 N.W. Blue Parkway, Suite J, Lee’s Summit, on Wednesday with a grand opening next Friday.

Under Marble Slab Creamery the shop will offer super-premium hand-mixed ice cream made fresh daily in variety of flavors, including amaretto, caramel apple, coffee, fudge and tiramisu. It also will have ice cream pies, ice cream pizzas, sundaes, milk shakes, ice cream cupcakes, and non-fat frozen yogurt.

Under Great American Cookies it will sell more than a dozen different flavors of freshly baked cookies, as well as custom cookie cakes.

Westlake expands

Westlake Ace Hardware has signed a lease for a 15,500-square-foot location in Stanley Station, 7821 W. 151st St., Overland Park. Dobbels True Value currently operates in the space but will move out on July 29. Lenexa-based Westlake plans to remodel the store for a fall opening. The company will then have 20 stores in the metro.

Dobbels, now in its 35th year, is currently having a retirement/liquidation sale with prices from 20 to 75 percent off.
