Stockyards Brewing Co. plans to open to the public at noon Friday.

The locally owned brewery took part of the former Golden Ox space at 1600 Genessee, Suite 100. The Golden Ox closed a year ago in the Livestock Exchange Building in the West Bottoms after 65 years. New owners will reopen The Golden Ox later this year in the other part of the space.

It will have three beers on tap that it describes as:

▪ Hefeweizen: Traditional Bavarian-style wheat beer “cloudy and unfiltered with hints of banana, clove and citrus.”

▪ Golden Alt: Alt-style beer with “golden malts and a generous supply of German Opal hops.”

▪ Saison: Belgian yeast “takes a front seat in this wheat and rye ale balanced with orange peel, lemon peel, and crushed black pepper.”

Jill Myers discusses her group’s plans to reopen the famous Golden Ox restaurant in Kansas City's West Bottoms.
