Health department temporarily shuts down new restaurant The Rim

The Kansas City Health Department has temporarily closed The Rim restaurant in the Northland.

The Rim, 8702 N. Flintlock Road, closed Tuesday because of ongoing violations initially noted in a routine inspection on Dec. 19.

The violations included employee beverages by the food preparation line, raw food stored above prepared food, and hot food not being maintained in the safe temperature range.

The Rim had 7 critical violations during a Dec. 29 follow-up inspection, 4 critical violations during a Jan. 5 follow-up inspection and 6 critical violations during a Jan. 13 follow-up inspection.

Restaurant officials could not be reached for comment.

The Rim must meet with the representatives of the Environmental Public Health Program, provide a corrective action plan demonstrating how they have corrected the violations and a plan to prevent the violations in the future, and demonstrate that they have corrected the behavior that resulted in the violations before it will be allowed to reopen.

The Rim opened in late 2014.
