Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers to open in Westport
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, one of the new “better chicken” chains, plans to open in Westport.
Company officials have confirmed they will open a location with drive-thru at 4040 Mill St., on the site of a building that formerly housed Boston Market and then Verizon. The building is being demolished this week.
The Baton Rouge, La.-based company also plans to open a restaurant at the southwest corner 135th and Riley streets in Overland Park, and in Adams Dairy Landing at N.E. Adams Dairy Parkway and N.E. Coronado Drive in Blue Springs in the spring.
Real estate sources said the company also is looking at other area sites including one in Lawrence.
According to the company’s website, Todd Graves founded the chain in 1996 and named it after his beloved yellow Labrador retriever. The company specializes in chicken fingers made from premium chicken that has never been frozen, as well as crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw and Texas toast.
It currently has 251 locations.
