Veterans Day specials at area restaurants, businesses
The following restaurants and businesses are offering special discounts to veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day. Military ID required in most cases, call ahead to verify requirements.

▪ Kansas City Zoo: All military personnel with a valid ID and their immediate families living in the same household receive complimentary admission.

Veterans Day events:
National WWI Museum: Free Veterans Day events will be going on all day, highlighted by ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., both with lots of dignitaries. The latter ceremony will include patriotic songs by members of the Lyric Opera. 9 a.m. Wednesday. National World War I Museum.
Johnson County: 55 WWII veterans and nearly 40 Vietnam veterans will be honored at the Veterans Day Observance. 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Lenexa National Guard Armory, located at 18200 West 87th Street Parkway.
